IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Player of the Match

No surprises here. It's Dhruv Jurel. In his second, the young boy has earned the player of the match award for his incredible performance both the bat and gloves. 90 in the first innings and 39* in the second to go along with three catches behind the stumps. And I have to say this, MS DHONI will be proud of this performance. A keeper winning matches for India, last time it was Rishabh Pant, this time it's Dhruv Jurel.

So, India win the series by 3-1 with one more Test to go in Dharamsala. Meanwhile, 'Bazball' has surrendered to the Indian powerhouse. They don't say this for no reason that 'Beating India in India is a very difficult task'. Bazball have lost their first Test Series and for the first time, they have lost three Tests in a row! India maintain their winning streak in India. This has been some series for both teams, though. But as we all know, only one can prevail in the fight of the giants!

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Summary

This was a game to remember for Dhruv Jurel, saved India in both innings in this game. Top-class stuff from him as well as Kuldeep Yadav who displayed equal determination with bat and ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal was wonderful in the first innings while Rohit Sharma did excel in the second. R Ashwin was brilliant with the ball too bagging a fifer in the second innings. Shubman Gill proved why he is in the line-up as he stood the firm test of English spinners in the second innings.

As for England, Shoaib Bashir was the superstar with the ball while Joe Root finally scored came to the party with an unbeaten century in the first innings. They must be wondering what went wrong after the first innings. England had to stay away from their style of play in the first innings after wickets fell regularly where we saw Root getting back to normal. However, they couldn't do much with the bat in the second innings as Indian spinners proved too good.

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: India Win!

image-lt2p6t7wJurel & Gill Took India to victory on Day 4 (Source: AP Photo)

Unbelievable scenes! India have fought back in this game to register the victory and they win the series as well. Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel, the shining stars for India. Jurel played it on the leg-side for two comfortable runs. Unbeaten 72 run stand between these two. They were 120/5 at one stage but what a rescue. They have chased down 192. They take the match by 5 wickets. What an enthralling game of cricket! This is high-class from both sides. England should be proud of the way they have performed!

13:34 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Gill Fires Two In The Stands, India: 184/5

This is an innings he will remember for a long time, Shubman Gill. You beauty. 50 for the youngster. Two sixes against Bashir to take India closer to victory. This is sensational from Gill. Take a bow. Under pressure does the business.

13:31 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: 50 Partnership Up! India: 171/5

What a partnership this has been for India. A match saving one. Surely. This is India's game now. Gill and Jurel have been brilliant. Wonderful. 21 needed now.

13:14 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Drinks Break, India: 163/5

Okay,  a little breather. Drinks are on the field now. India need 29 more. Jurel and Gill doing a great job until now. Partnership 43 now between these two. Can they take India home comfortably or will England fightback from here? Will get to know soon.

12:56 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: 150 on the board, India: 152/5

Excellent partnership between these two as India's score crosses 150. They need 40 more to win. Jurel and Gill have continued to impress with their resilience. Can they take India home? We will know soon!

12:49 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Four for Jurel, India: 146/5

Finally! Something I was talking about! A boundary and Dhruv Jurel has given that hope. He has played a perfect cover drive. India need less than 50 now. 46 to be precise. He needs to continue like that.

12:39 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: India Need 58 to Win, India: 134/5

image-lt2mov4oShoaib Bashir struck twice after lunch (Source: AP Photo)

These 58 runs look too big at the moment for India. Looks like a steep chase now. No side ready to give up. England going for the kill here. India need to stay alert. One more wicket would be curtains. India's hope relies on Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel while the English will be backing their prime striker Shoaib Bashir to deliver again. Tension all-around! Also, no boundary since the 28th over!!!

12:21 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Sarfaraz Registers Golden Duck, India: 120/5

Ohh nooo!! Gonne!! Another one! All of a sudden!! Sarfaraz gone for a first ball duck. He tried to defend it but lops it up in the air after ball hits the pads. Umpire gives it not-out. England Reviews and it turns out in their favour. There's a slight edge. Two in Two balls and Bashir will be on a hat-trick!! India FIVE DOWN! It's getting tight. Very tight.

12:16 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Jadeja is gone! India: 120/4

Trouble! Trouble for India! Ravindra Jadeja has departed for 4. He has been caught here by Jonny Bairstow. Very good catch at short mid-wicket. Bashir, the man! Ohh!! This is alarming! This was a poor shot. Where are we heading? England on the front-foot now. India need 72 more.

12:11 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Second Session Resumes, India: 118/3

Everyone out in the centre. Play to resume for the second session of the day. Hartley to start with Gill to face the first ball. India need 74 and England need 7 wickets. Who will prevail? Here we go!

11:33 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Lunch Break, India: 118/3

A decent session this for both sides. India have managed to keep the runs in check while England have picked three very crucial wickets. 74 more to win for India and on the other hand, England need 7 wickets. The next session will certainly be the last of this game, either way in both sides' favour. Stay there, we'll back in a while.

11:19 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Jadeja, Gill Stabilizes India, India: 115/3

Finally, some stability after quick three breakthroughs. Although, only 15 runs have been scored but most importantly, no wicket lost until now. Some balls are misbehaving on this pitch but Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja have negotiated well.

10:53 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Patidar Goes Too, India: 100/3

Now then, the game has surely getting in balance. Rajat Patidar comes in and goes. Plays a forward defence against Bashir, only manages to find an edge that goes into the hands of Ollie Pope at backward short-leg. Huge moment in the game. India, all of a sudden three wickets down. 92 still needed. Who's gonna score the runs now? Can Bazball survive yet another day in India? Ohhhh!! It's getting interesting.

10:47 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Rohit Caught Behind, India 99/2

India have lost the massive wicket of skipper Rohit Sharma. Came down the track against Tom Hartley, got a slight edge as keeper Ben Foakes caught it. Initially, it looked like he was stumped as the bails were dislodged with Rohit out of the crease but later confirmed that he was given caught behind. This can hurt India I think. Rohit walks back for 55. Rajat Patidar the new man in.

10:36 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Less Than 100 Required Now, India: 93/1

India's fighting show until now has helped them reduced the runs required now to 99 at drinks break after the completion of first hour. Could have been a tricky run-chase if not for the opening partnership. Still job to be done. Meanwhile, Rohit has achieved a massive feat. Click below to read.

10:23 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: 50 for Rohit, India: 89/1

That's an excellent knock under pressure for skipper Rohit Sharma that too in the fourth innings. This is as good as you can get to see him. He looks determined to get India to victory today. He wants it badly for his side. The determination is there. India need 103 more.

10:13 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Jaiswal Departs, India: 84/1

India lose their first wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal is gone. Joe Root with the golden arm. Jimmy Anderson with an excellent diving catch at backward point region. Hmmmm, is this the breakthrough England needed. We will know soon.

10:05 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Jaiswal on the march now, India: 82/0

Jaiswal not holding himself back to take on England here. He finds two consecutive fours against Shoaib Bashir. He looks pretty much set now alongside Rohit.

9:59 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: England Lose Review, India: 67/0

So, that struck Jaiswal on the pads while coming down the track against Hartley. England reviews as umpire Dharmasena denied them on-field. The replays suggest an edge saving Jaiswal here. It stays Not-Out.

9:54 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Rohit, Jaiswal continue their attack, India: 66/0

After the previous six, both Jaiswal and Rohit have managed to find one boundary each, helping India inch closer to the target. The positive intent is visible here. 126 more required for the home side now.

9:45 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Rohit Gets Six, India: 52/0

Now, that's the shot that Rohit would love to play against Jimmy Anderson. He whips it over the long-on region for the first big strike of the day. India in the driver's seat now. 50 comes up with that. India need 140 more to win.

9:35 (IST) Feb 26

IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 4: Day Begins, India: 40/0

James Anderson to start the spell with Rohit Sharma on strike while Yashasvi Jaiswal will be at the other end. Here we go!

17:55 (IST) Feb 25

India now need just 152 after a bright opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal and England need nothing short of a miracle on Day 4 if they want to level the series here at Ranchi.

17:44 (IST) Feb 25

India have taken a commanding position in the Test match courtesy a brilliant bowling effort and a fantastic knock under pressure by Dhruv Jurel. India gave away a 46-run lead at the end of their first batting outing but shot down England for 145 in the second innings courtesy of deadly Ashwin-Kuldeep combo and England have only themselves to blame going into the fourth day.
