The role of a cricket coach for a national team is instrumental in shaping the team's strategies, morale, and overall performance on the global stage.

Since becoming a full member of the International Cricket Council in 1926 and playing its first Test match in 1932, India has seen a varied and illustrious array of head coaches.

These coaches have not only mentored generations of cricketers but also led the team through highs and lows across different formats of the game.

From the historic 1983 World Cup victory under Kapil Dev and coach PR Man Singh to the triumphant 2011 World Cup campaign under MS Dhoni with coach Gary Kirsten, India's coaches have been crucial in its cricketing success. Let’s take a look at the list of Indian head coaches.

Recently, Dravid stepped down from the coaching position after helping India win the T20 WC 2024. In his place, BCCI appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new head of the team.
