The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium is known for it slow nature. Spinners generally get a lot of help from the wicket and the same could be expected in this match. Run scoring is going to be hard on this wicket, and as far as pacers are concerned, those who can use their slower deliveries to the best effect will reap benefits from the wicket.

IND vs AUS, 5th Match - Toss Factor

The pitch will help the spinners throughout the match. But there will be more help during the afternoon in absence of the dew. As the game progresses the dew factor will come into play and the effectiveness of the spinners might decrease in the second innings of the match. The team winning the toss will looks chase a target in all probabilities.

Scenario: If India Wins the Toss

India have spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav in their ranks. Rohit Sharma will look to unleash his world class spinner to the best of the bowling conditions. Also, the likes of Kohli, Iyer and Hardik Pandya in the batting line-up enjoy chasing down a target. With the dew factor in mind and looking at his team's composition, Rohit Sharma will look to field first on winning the toss.

Scenario: If Australia Wins the Toss

Australia will look trust the variation of their pacers. They have only one frontline spinner in their ranks in Adam Zampa and Glen Maxwell will be their second spin option for the game. Much like India, Australia too have a good depth in their batting and they will try and get the best of the batting conditions. So, if we see Australia winning the toss, we will probably notice the Indian batters walking out to set a target for them.

IND vs AUS, 5th Match - Top Captain and Vice-captain options

Scenario: If India Bowls First

Virat Kohli (IND)

If India have to chase down a target in the match, Virat Kohli will become crucial to determine the fate of the match. He is known as the 'chase master' and he also enjoys batting against the Aussies. So, if India is batting second in this match, Kohli will be the ideal candidate as the captain or vice-captain for the match.

Kuldeeep Yadav (IND)

If India bowls first in the match, the spinners of the Indian team will get the best of the conditions to exploit. In that case, Kuldeep Yadav will pose a great threat to the Aussie batting line-up. His ability to pick up wickets in the middle-overs will make Kuldeep a great point scoring option in the fantasy contests of the match.

Scenario: If Australia Bowls First

Steve Smith (IND)

Steve Smith's batting will be very important if Australia have to chase down a target in this match. Smith is a great player of spin and the World Cup is generally where he thrives the most. So, in this scenarios, Smith will be the best choice as the captain or vice-captain.

Adam Zampa (IND)

The Australian leggie is the only front line spinner in the team. If Australia decides to bowl first, there will be a lot of responsibility on Zampa to pick up wickets in the middle-overs and restrict the opposition to a manageable total. His records in Chennai are pretty decent and hence Zampa will be a great choice as a points-multiplier for the game.

IND vs AUS, 5th Match - Big Risk, Big Return Choices

Ravindra Jadeja (IND)

Looking at the history of the Chennai pitch, it seems that the batting line-up of both the teams will be tested a lot. In that case, Jadeja might play a big role for India, as the team management will hope for active contributions from him with both the bat and the ball. The fact that Jadeja has not been in the best of forms, especially with the bat makes him a risky fantasy pick who can give you big points.

Glenn Maxwell (AUS)

With only one frontline spinner in their ranks, Australia will surely turn to Maxwell in the middle-overs of the Indian innings. If Maxwell can deliver with a couple of wickets, then he can carry the confidence forward in his batting and can be lethal in that discipline that too. So, Maxwell will be a great option to be used as a point multiplier in the match.
