The five-game T20I series between India and England will resume on January 31 with both teams locking horns in 4th T20I. The crucial match will be held at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune from 7.00 PM IST.

India

Team India is leading the 5-game series 2-1 but must win this upcoming contest to seal the series. After two back-to-back awe-inspiring victories, the host’s batting lineup flattered in the third T20I played at Rajkot. Chasing a competitive total of 172, the lower middle order collapsed. 

Besides Hardik Pandya’s 40 off 35 balls, no batter managed to score more than 25 runs individually. Hence, Varun Chakravarthy’s sensational five-wicket-haul went to waste as India lost the contest by 26 runs, allowing England to keep the series alive.

England

England, meanwhile, have kept their hopes alive with a much-needed victory in Rajkot. Liam Livingstone (43) and Ben Duckett (51) anchored England’s inning to set a total of 171/9 in the first innings. 

Jamie Overton did the rest in the second inning to scalp 3 important wickets in his four-over spell. To support him, Adil Rashid delivered an economical spell, conceding 15 runs off his four overs, including a wicket of Tilak Varma. Hence, a collective effort kept England from losing the series.

The venue has previously hosted four T20Is with an average first-inning score of 166. While two teams won by batting first, many teams also registered victories by batting second. Hence, toss is unlikely to be a big factor despite the threat of dew.

1. Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson, India’s top run-scorer in T20Is during 2024, has faced a challenging series. Despite his previous consistency, Samson is struggling to find form, averaging just over 11 runs in 3 innings.

However, the Pune pitch will likely favour his strengths. He can exploit field restrictions and allow a better platform for India. Hence, Samson is an ideal pick for fantasy teams.

2. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy has been the standout performer with the ball for India. The mystery spinner has been his brilliant self in the series so far, taking a sensational five-wicket-haul on Tuesday. 

He is now at the top of the tournament's wicket-takers list with 10 wickets, and he is a key player in India's bowling attack. Chakravarthy is thus a must-have as vice-captain in fantasy teams.

3. Adil Rashid
