Yuzvendra Chahal turned out to be a surprise exclusion from Team India’s squad for the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The ace spinner was sidelined from a 17-player crew, as the selection committee decided to go with Kuldeep Yadav instead.

Gutted by the snub, Chahal later shared an emotional message on X, indicating that he is still optimistic of an ODI comeback.

In the meantime, the 33-year-old seems to be taking his mind off the game. Quite recently, the cricketer was seen having a cheerful time with some of the “most valuable family members” at his house.

Chahal shrugs off Asia Cup 2023 snub with “family”

Nearly a week after BCCI’s selection committee ignored him from India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad, Yuzvendra Chahal was seen spending some quality time at home with his pets. The cricketer took to his Instagram account and shared a short video with his two dogs in what seems to be the backyard of his residence.

In the caption, Chahal jokingly described his dogs as the “most valuable family members” on his side, even though his wife Dhanashree Verma was heard recording his cheerful time with pets nearby.

While a regular member in India’s T20I setup, Yuzvendra Chahal seems to have lost his grip in team’s ODI playing XI off late. The leg-spinner last featured in an ODI match during India’s home series against New Zealand earlier this year. He was overlooked for team’s subsequent series against Australia, and was also dropped from the 50-overs segment of West Indies tour last month.

Despite his latest exclusion, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that the door is not closed yet for Chahal, as the ace spinner might well return to the team for the impending World Cup 2023 later this year.
