The moment, captured in a viral video, shows Iyer relaxing at a cafe when a fan approached him with a piece of paper and pen, asking for his autograph. True to his down-to-earth nature, Iyer didn’t hesitate to fulfill the fan’s request.

Shreyas Iyer made headlines last year when he led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title triumph. His leadership skills were acknowledged by Punjab Kings, who appointed him as their captain for the upcoming IPL season. The news came on the heels of the IPL 2024 season preparations, which are set to begin in March. 

Shreyas Iyer To Reunite With Ricky Ponting

Iyer, who is known for his batting and leadership abilities, was bought by Punjab Kings for a record-breaking Rs 26.75 crore in the November auction, making him the second-most expensive player of the season. At Punjab Kings, he will reunite with head coach Ricky Ponting, with whom he shared a successful stint at Delhi Capitals (DC), even guiding the team to the IPL 2020 final.

The 2024 season has already been a remarkable one for Shreyas Iyer. Not only did he help KKR win the IPL title, but he also led Mumbai to their second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Iyer was also part of the Mumbai team that secured both the Ranji and Irani Trophy, cementing his place as one of the most successful players in domestic cricket as well.
