Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach of the senior Indian cricket team came to an end at the conclusion of the ICC Men's ODI Cricket World Cup 2023.

While the former cricketer would have loved to lift the trophy, his and millions of fans' dreams were shattered on the eve of the finals when Australia outclassed the undefeated Indian side to seal their sixth title.

Having said that, Rahul Dravid's dream to witness a World Cup win as a player and coach will remain unfilled as BCCI is not interested in extending his tenure.

Marathi actress feels sorry for Dravid

Meanwhile, Dravid's niece and popular Marathi actress, Aditi Dravid, sent out an emotional message for his uncle. While speaking to TOI, Aditi said his uncle, Rahul Dravid, has been working relentlessly in the field of cricket for the past 30-35 years.

Even her father, Vinayak Dravid, served in the Ranji Trophy domestic tournament. Thus, the duo developed a bond for their mutual love of cricket. However, the heartbreaking World Cup final loss hurt Aditi as well, as she couldn't help but feel gutted for her uncle, who wanted to win it as badly as anyone.

She says the 2023 World Cup was Rahul Dravid's last, and he worked tirelessly as a coach to mentor the team. But unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.

"I feel very bad for him today. His term as head coach is also coming to an end. This World Cup was his last. He is very hardworking and has done a lot of hard work. I think he is the best coach" Aditi said.

The former Indian head coach was left heartbroken after the finals loss. He said as a coach, it was difficult to handle the team as many guys broke down in the dressing room.

Each and every personnel had worked exceptionally hard throughout the tournament and truthfully deserved to win more than anyone else. But at the end of the day, it's a sport, and one team has to lose.

Unfortunately, it was the Indian side who had to bear the brunt. But the players are professional and would move on when their wounds heal.
