Political Career In Making? Mohammed Shami Catches Up With UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami caught up with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ahead of SRH’s away fixture against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. In a social media update by Shami, the speedster can be seen receiving a gift from the Indian political giant.

Earlier, the senior Indian paceman made his return to competitive cricket after an extensive injury layoff. As of now, he is plying his trade for the SRH franchise in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.

Mohammed Shami meets CM Adityanath, again

On Monday, May 19, Mohammed Shami posted pictures of his interaction with UP CM Yogi Adityanath on his Instagram account. In the caption, the Indian cricketer wrote that the two engaged in a meaningful dialogue on leadership, sustainable development, and the roadmap for a progressive Uttar Pradesh.


This is not the first time when Mohammed Shami has interacted with Yogi Adityanath. The two also caught up with each other last year during the Times of India-TOISA awards ceremony. Moreover, Yogi Adityanath has time and again extended his admirations for the fast bowler for his contributions towards Indian cricket.

Nonetheless, Shami’s recent meeting with the UP CM has sparked speculations of a possible link-up between the cricketer and the political party. Aged 34, nearing 35, the UP-born cricketer is nearing his retirement age and might well be considering a future in politics.

Several fans are even speculating that Shami might join the UP-ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, much like his national teammate Ravindra Jadeja. Former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan also joined the Trinamool Congress party in Bengal.
