Yorkshire's Matthew Waite joins Worcestershire until 2025

Worcestershire County Cricket Club (WCCC) have acquired the services of Matthew Waite, who is coming over from the Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC).

Waite's contract will last until 2025 and will begin on October 1, 2022. The all-rounder had earlier played on loan for the club, grabbing six wickets in their County Championship win over Leicestershire.

The Leeds-born seems excited about his continued association with Worcestershire.

“I totally enjoyed my short spell at Worcestershire and contributing to a win and, even in that short time, I could see the great potential at the Club, with a mixture of youngsters and experience.

“I was made to feel welcome by everyone and part of the group, and I’m delighted to move to Worcestershire on a three-year contract. It’s a Club wanting to experience more success in red ball and white ball cricket, and I want to play my part and feel I can contribute with bat and ball.

“I’m 26, it’s an ideal move at this stage of my career, a fresh challenge, and I can’t wait to get started this winter,"  Waite said in a statement released by WCCC.

Waite's career so far ...

Having made his debut in 2014, Waite has played 13 First-Class games picking 27 wickets and scoring 355 runs.

He has 22 List-A and 25 T20 appearances under his belt as well.

The 26-year-old's inclusion in the side will help the club, who are on the lookout for a replacement for Ed Barnard, who will leave for Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC) at the end of the season.

Earlier, Worcestershire announced the signing of middle-order batter Adam Hose from Warwickshire for a three-year period.
