Yashasvi Jaiswal, the talented 23-year-old cricketer, has changed his mind about leaving Mumbai for domestic cricket. Recently, he had requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to switch to Goa, where he was reportedly offered the captaincy. However, Jaiswal has now decided to stay with Mumbai.
What Led to the Change?
Jaiswal sent an email to the MCA, stating that his earlier decision was based on his family’s plan to move to Goa. Since those plans have now changed, he wishes to continue playing for Mumbai.
He clarified that he hasn’t submitted the NOC to either the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association.
“I want to withdraw the NOC given to me as my plans to shift to Goa have been curtailed. I request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season. I haven’t submitted the NOC to BCCI and Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in email to MCA.
After making a strong start to his Test career, Jaiswal found the leadership role offered by Goa quite appealing. He previously stated that while his main goal is to perform well for India, he would play for Goa whenever he wasn’t on national duty, aiming to help them progress in tournaments.'
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Journey To Success
Originally from Suriyawan in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, Jaiswal moved to Mumbai at the age of 11 to pursue his cricket dreams. He first made headlines by scoring a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which led to his selection for the national team and an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals.
In his Test career so far, Jaiswal has played 19 matches for India, scoring 1,798 runs with an impressive average of 52.88. His record includes four centuries and ten half-centuries.
