Putting an end to recent speculations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clarified on Sunday that the Indian team will not be sporting an alternate match kit for their much-anticipated game against Pakistan in World Cup 2023 on October 14.

India to stick with traditional blue for clash vs Pakistan

The Indian cricketers, earlier seen in orange training jerseys leading up to their World Cup opener against Australia in Chennai, had led some to believe that a change in match kit could be on the cards. This sparked curiosity given that India had donned an alternate kit in the 2019 World Cup in England.

However, BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar, who is also a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Mumbai, quashed these rumours. He stated that the media reports about a potential kit change for the India-Pakistan match are unfounded and purely speculative.

The 51-year-old further added that the Indian team will continue to proudly represent the nation in their traditional blue colours during the ongoing World Cup.

"We unequivocally refute the media reports suggesting that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan. These reports lack any basis and are merely a product of someone's imagination. The Men in Blue will proudly wear India's traditional blue colours at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023,” said Shelar, as quoted by Rediff.

Meanwhile, India kicked off their World Cup 2023 journey with a six-wicket victory over Australia in Chennai on Sunday. Their next challenge is vs Afghanistan, scheduled for October 11 in Delhi.
