Punjab Kings are all set to take on defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the 31st match of the IPL 2025. This exciting clash will be held today, April 15, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

Is Lockie Ferguson Playing Today?

Unfortunately, it looks like Lockie Ferguson won’t be playing in today’s match. The Punjab Kings' pace bowler is dealing with an injury that might keep him out for most of the tournament.

Fast bowling coach James Hopes confirmed this a day before the big game. He said,

"Ferguson is out indefinitely. There's a very slim chance we’ll get him back before the tournament ends. It’s a serious injury."

What Happened to Lockie Ferguson?

Ferguson had to leave the field after bowling just two balls in a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While the exact details of the injury weren’t revealed, he was seen holding his left thigh while walking off.

So far, he has taken 5 wickets in 4 matches this season and has been an important part of Punjab’s bowling attack, especially in the middle overs.

This isn’t the first time Ferguson has been sidelined. Earlier this year, he missed the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury and had also suffered a calf injury in late 2024. His repeated injuries have been a concern both for New Zealand and Punjab Kings.

So far, PBKS has had a mixed season, with 3 wins and 2 losses from 5 matches. They are currently at 6th place on the points table with 6 points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.065.
