WI vs BAN | Shakib Al Hasan becomes the first player in the world to establish rare milestone

Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan and records go hand in hand. The 35-year-old became the first cricketer to score 2,000 runs and pick up 100 wickets in T20Is, during his knock of 68, which came against West Indies in the second match of the 3-game series.

From 98 T20Is, Shakib has 2,005 runs at an average of 23.31, including ten half-centuries, while having 120 wickets at an economy of 6.70 to go with five 4-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul.

Interestingly, he is also the leading wicket-taker in T20Is, ahead of New Zealand's Tim Southee (111) and Afghanistan's Rashid Khan (109). Fellow countryman Mustafizur Rahman has 87 wickets and is sixth on the list.

The left-hander also completed 2,000 T20I runs for Bangladesh, becoming the second player after Mahmudullah Riyad to register this, who is sitting on top with 2021 runs from 117 games.

Shakib is ranked second in the ICC T20I All-rounder Rankings behind Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi and ahead of England's Moeen Ali.

Shakib scored an unbeaten 68 off 52 balls during his side's 35-run loss against West Indies last night, chasing 194. His innings included five fours and three sixes.

For the home side, it was Rovman Powell, who blitzed his way to 61*, with six sixes and two fours, guiding his side to 193 for 5 in 20.

He claimed the wicket of Shamarh Brooks, who was out on a duck, trying to slog the wily spinner for a boundary.

With this loss, Bangladesh trail the 3-T20I series 0-1. The first match was called-off due to rain, where the visitors were asked to bat and scored 105 for 8 in 13 overs when the rain decided to interrupt and play spoilsport.

Shakib top-scored with 29 runs from 15 deliveries before falling to Hayden Walsh.

The third and final T20I will be in Guyana on July 7.
