On Monday, the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee announced a formidable Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh. The team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, saw the inclusion of India's latest pace sensation Mayank Yadav, while experienced spinner Varun Chakravarthy received a recall after three years.

Meanwhile, dynamic batters Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on selection, surprising fans and experts. Despite India resting Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan and Gaikwad couldn't find a place in the team.

Why Were Ishan And Gaikwad Ignored For Bangladesh T20Is?

For the unversed, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in the Rest of India squad for the much-anticipated Irani Trophy clash against Mumbai. The high-voltage encounter, which is set to be played from the 1st to the 5th of October in Lucknow, will see Gaikwad leading the Rest of India versus the current Ranji Trophy champions.

Besides skipper Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan will be pivotal for the Rest of India, playing as their wicket-keeper in the Irani Trophy. The southpaw, who was impressive in the Duleep Trophy, has been given a golden opportunity to revive his red-ball career, which halted abruptly following his exclusion from the South Africa tour.

Therefore, when the BCCI unveiled the Rest Of India squad, it was pretty certain that Ishan and Gaikwad wouldn't make it into India's team for the Bangladesh series. Notably, the Irani Trophy concludes on October 5, a day before the Bangladesh T20Is begins in Gwalior.
