As per emerging reports, ace Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will likely make his international return in the T20I series against Ireland in August. As revealed by a senior BCCI official, Bumrah is well on track for his much-awaited India comeback and could make it into the T20I squad for the Ireland series.

Here's what the official told News18

"Jasprit Bumrah is looking very good for the Ireland series in August this year. It will be a big boost to the Indian cricket team and will also allow Bumrah time in the middle after the long injury lay-off. If everything stays on course, a Bumrah at peak fitness is likely to take field."

Notably, Bumrah sustained a career-threatening back injury, which ruled him out of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup last year.

After showing promising signs at the NCA, the experienced speedster was considered for the home series against Sri Lanka, only to be left out of the squad after the recurrence of the injury. Since then, he hasn't played a single competitive game, staying focused on his rehabilitation process.

Bumrah's absence has led India to several forgettable results, including a group-stage exit in the Asia Cup, a semi-final ouster in the World Cup and a crushing defeat in the recently concluded World Test Championship final.

So, if he regains full fitness within August, it will certainly boost India's chances of ending their ICC title drought by winning the ODI World Cup scheduled in October-November.
