In a jaw-dropping return to the Indian team just before the ICC World Cup 2023, seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin pulled off an epic performance, setting the stage for India to comfortably beat Australia in the 2nd One Day International (ODI) on Sunday.

Ashwin emerged as the most economical bowler, and also managed to grab three crucial wickets, one of which was the prized scalp of Australia's opener, David Warner.

However, an amusing incident occurred between Ashwin and Warner before the latter's dismissal, evoking laughter from all, including Australia's captain, Pat Cummins, who was watching from the dugout.

When facing Ashwin in the challenging run-chase, Warner decided to try something out of the ordinary as he pulled a surprise move by switching his batting stance and going right-handed against the seasoned spinner.

This unexpected move not only led to a boundary but also brought smiles to the faces of Australian players who were enjoying David Warner’s batting from the dugout.

However, in the end, Ashwin had the last laugh as he outplayed Warner in the next over. Using a clever carrom ball, Ashwin executed all the right tricks to dismiss Warner, who was batting right-handed.

Warner's audacious reverse sweep misfired, resulting in an LBW dismissal. What's amusing is that the replays showed Warner got a little inside edge onto the pads, but he didn't realise it and opted not to review.

The veteran spinner and handy lower-order batter has been included in India's squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia after all-rounder Axar Patel was sidelined due to a hamstring injury for the first two matches.

Ashwin was initially left out when India announced its squads for the World Cup and Asia Cup. Now, with Axar's return, the spotlight is on whether Ashwin will make it to the Indian XI for the third and final ODI against Australia on Wednesday in Rajkot.
