After Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a thumping win, man of the match Jasprit Bumrah received praise for his sensational five-wicket haul, not only from experts but also from his counterpart at Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

RCB's pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj approached Bumrah during the customary handshakes and bowed to his India teammate. Bumrah, taken aback by the gesture, momentarily stepped back before the two embraced.

Bumrah magic dismantles RCB

The 30-year-old unorthodox pacer was spot on for the five-time IPL champions against RCB's star-studded batting lineup, dismantling them to finish with figures of 5/21 from four overs. Remarkably, this marked Bumrah's second five-wicket haul.

Bumrah's first breakthrough came in the form of Virat Kohli in the third over of RCB's innings, marking the fifth time he dismissed Kohli in the IPL. After conceding four runs in the 11th over, Bumrah returned to bowl in the 17th and swiftly removed the dangerous Faf du Plessis before delivering a toe-crushing yorker to dismiss Mahipal Lomror. In his final over, Bumrah dismissed Saurav Chauhan and Vijaykumar Vyshak to complete his five-wicket haul.

Bumrah's outstanding spell left his fellow India teammate Siraj highly impressed, evident in the respectful greeting exchanged between the two during the customary post-match handshake.

In the pursuit of 197, Mumbai Indians comfortably reached 199/3 in just 15.3 overs, propelled by half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (69) and Suryakumar Yadav (52). Leading the charge, skipper Hardik Pandya sealed the victory with a match-winning six for MI, securing the win with 27 deliveries to spare.

With his stellar performance, Bumrah now leads the IPL 2024 Purple Cap race with 10 wickets to his name in five matches, followed closely by Yuzvendra Chahal (10) in second position.
