[Watch] Shubman Gill Looks in 'Sublime Touch' Ahead of World Cup 2023 Opener

Shubman Gill exercised his dominance over net bowlers presented to him in Thiruvananthapuram ahead of India's final warm-up clash ahead of the 2023 World Cup against the Netherlands on Monday (October 2). 

The prodigiously talented young Indian opener brought his best intensity to the net session under the supervision of batting coach Vikram Rathour and was seen playing his mesmerising strokes against the pacers and spinners alike.

Gill unleashed his trademark pull shot towards the mid-wicket region twice off short-pitched deliveries from the seamer and backed it up with the famous flick for a six to the wide mid-on area. He then unfurled a lovely straight drive off the pacer.

When Rathour acted as his throwdown support, Gill played the best shot of the net session, striking gold with a picture-picture six down the ground. He held his pose for that extra split second, making it an ever so delightful stroke. 

The shot attracted indirect praise from batting coach Rathour, who watched the ball sail over the ropes behind him and raised his hands to signal a maximum. Rathour would've been extremely pleased with the touch Gill displayed during the net session at the Greenfield International Stadium and the overall form he is carrying into the World Cup.

The clip of Gill's majestic strokes during the net session was captured and shared amongst the fans by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their Instagram handle and immediately caught the fans' attention as they raved over the quality of the batting the 23-year-old brought to his practice drill. 

Gill will have the chance to further bolster his planning and preparations for the tournament proper when he takes on the Dutch in India's final warm-up game before the World Cup. The youngster vying for the ultimate glory in his very first attempt is expected to continue his great run in home conditions during the competition. 

The elegant Punjab right-hander boasts of a tremendous record under his belt ahead of the World Cup, averaging 66.10 with a strike-rate of 102.84 with six hundreds and nine half-centuries from just 35 games.
