In the latest development, young Indian opener Shubman Gill arrived in Ahmedabad late on the night of Wednesday, October 11.

Earlier, it was reported that Gill would be reaching Ahmedabad on Wednesday, and as it transpired, he arrived in the city ahead of the rest of the Indian World Cup contingent.

In a video that has gone viral, Gill is seen leaving Ahmedabad Airport, wearing a mask and accompanied by dozens of security personnels.

The details indicate that Gill travelled from Chennai to Ahmedabad and is set to link up with the team on October 12.

According to an anonymous BCCI source, Gill's condition is good, and he was scheduled to travel from Chennai to Ahmedabad. However, it's still unclear whether Gill will participate in a light training session at the Motera Stadium on Thursday. His recovery is progressing well, but his availability for the upcoming match against Pakistan remains uncertain.

"(Shubman) Gill is doing absolutely fine and is set to leave Chennai for Ahmedabad today. It is still not clear whether Gill will have a light training session at Motera on Thursday. His recovery has been fine but can't really be sure if he can play against Pakistan,"  a source close to BCCI said.

Gill, who had contracted dengue fever prior to the start of the World Cup, has already missed the first two World Cup games, the opening match against Australia in Chennai and Wednesday's game against Afghanistan.

Notably, his absence did not hinder the team's performance, as India secured victories in both matches.

Earlier reports had indicated that Gill's platelet count had dropped to 70,000 last week, prompting his admission to a Chennai hospital for routine medical tests. After 24 hours of medical attention, he was discharged, but he did not accompany the team to Delhi for the Afghanistan clash.

Gill uncertain for Pakistan game

Although Gill is known for his exceptional fitness, his readiness to play in the high-profile World Cup clash against Pakistan on Saturday remains uncertain.

If Gill successfully proves his fitness, he is likely to partner with Captain Rohit Sharma at the top of the order, capitalizing on his remarkable track record at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, the venue for the much-anticipated India-Pakistan match.

However, if Gill is unable to participate, India is expected to stick with Ishan Kishan, who opened the batting in both World Cup games thus far in Gill's absence.
