Amidst repeated exclusions from the Indian team, Dhawan announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year. The legendary left-hander last took field for Team India back in December 2022 with an ODI match in Chattogram.
He also played a handful of matches for the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024 season this year, tallying 152 runs in five innings at an average of 30.40.
A veteran of 34 Tests, 167 ODIs and 68 T20I matches, Shikhar Dhawan played a crucial role in India’s triumphant 2013 Champions Trophy winning crusade in England. Moreover, the legendary opening batter also racked up runs in heap at the 2017 Champions Trophy in England and during the 2015 ODI World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
