The Indian southpaw and also one of the most successful openers India have ever produced, Shikhar Dhawan, has started his preparations for the upcoming IPL season. The captain of Punjab Kings has returned to the nets to get ready to roar for Punjab again.

Dhawan was bought by the Punjab Kings in the Mega Auctions and was named captain of the team. He has been one of the most consistent batters in the IPL with over 6600 runs including 50 half-centuries and two centuries. As he gears up for another season, it will not be surprising if he has another season full of runs.

After the World Cup 2019, Shikhar Dhawan played in bits and pieces for the Indian team whether due to poor form or injury issues. Even when he was appointed as the captain of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour, he could not make it count and had a rough time in the series.

Shikhar shared a reel where he can be seen practising with the white ball. He also wrote a caption, 'Returning to the #cricket pitch, where each shot feels like a reunion with an old friend.' which ensures that the southpaw was not in touch with the sport and has commenced his practice sessions for the upcoming IPL.

In the last season, Shikhar could only feature in 11 games as he suffered an injury and had to sit out for three games, which eventually reduced their chances of making it to the playoffs. Despite playing just 11 games, he managed to score 373 runs with the best of 99 not out. The 38-year-old will be looking to maintain his fitness and play all the games leading the franchise from the front and hopefully take them to the playoffs.
