Pakistan A advanced to the final of the ACC Men's Emerging Asia Cup 2023 following a convincing 60-run victory over Sri Lanka A in Colombo on Friday.

Shaheen and Naseem celebrated Pakistan A's win over Sri Lanka A

The win was celebrated with much aplomb by Pakistan’s senior team, which included fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.

Upon the junior team's return to the hotel after their semi-final victory, they were greeted with a warm welcome by the senior team players, marking the occasion with a festive cake-cutting ceremony.

This celebratory moment was captured in a video that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later shared on its social media channels, featuring Afridi and Shah in high spirits alongside the victorious A team.

Coming to the game, in a semi-final match that was as intense as it was decisive, Pakistan A overpowered Sri Lanka A with a solid score of 322, leaving the home team a challenging target of 323 runs. Despite a valiant effort by the Sri Lankan side, they were all out for 262 runs after 45.4 overs, falling short by 60 runs.

Promising young pacer, Arshad Iqbal emerged as the star performer for Pakistan A, claiming an impressive 5-37 figure. Mubasir Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem also made significant contributions by taking two wickets each.

For Sri Lanka A, Sahan Arachchige and Avishka Fernando were the top run scorers, contributing 97 runs each. Unfortunately, their combined effort was insufficient to carry their team over the finish line.

Earlier in the day, Omair Bin Yousuf and captain Mohammad Haris put in impressive performances as they both scored half-centuries to help Pakistan post the massive total.

Meanwhile, the focus now shifts to the much-anticipated final where Pakistan A will take on their long-time rivals, India A. The match is scheduled for Sunday, July 2023 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
