Pakistan's fast bowling spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi exudes confidence in the Men in Green's prospects of clinching victory in the Asia Cup 2023, citing their meticulous preparation as the key factor for the tournament.

In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Afridi emphasized Pakistan's thorough readiness for the marquee event and their collective aim to excel and secure their third Asia Cup title.

He underlined the team's comprehensive preparation process, including their participation in Test cricket in Sri Lanka followed by ODIs and engagement in franchise cricket. Afridi stressed the significance of teamwork in cricket, with every player contributing in their respective roles.

"Pakistan will win the Asia Cup, we have prepared very well. We have played Test cricket in Sri Lanka and then ODIs, and the players also participated in franchise cricket. Cricket is a game of 11 players, every player has performed in his position. Our players support each other, we spend more time with the team than our actual families. We always do our best to make the country proud and happy."  Afridi said in a video released by the PCB.

Afridi's impressive ODI numbers since his debut in 2018 validates his reputation as a world-class white-ball bowler. Renowned for his deadly inswing deliveries and early wicket-taking ability, Afridi has made significant contributions in Pakistan’s success over the years. With 78 wickets in 40 ODIs at an impressive average of 23.08, an economy rate of 5.42, and a bowling strike rate of 25.5, Afridi boasts an enviable record.

His track record in the Asia Cup is descent with 6 wickets to his name from 4 ODIs at an average of 25.66, and maintaining an economy rate below 5. He remained wicketless in his sole ODI appearance against India in the 2018 Asia Cup.

However ever since then he has grown as a bowler and now stands as one of the best bowlers in the world right now.
