The streets of Bengaluru buzzed with unexpected drama on Tuesday evening as former Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid, known for his calm and cool composure on and off the field, was caught on camera in a fiery exchange with an auto-rickshaw driver following a minor collision.
The viral video, shot by a bystander, shows Rahul Dravid arguing in Kannada and expressing frustration over the incident that left his car dented. According to reports from the Deccan Herald and IANS, the accident occurred around 6:30 PM on Cunningham Road.
Dravid Engages In Heated Argument With Auto Driver
Dravid was reportedly travelling from Indian Express Junction toward High Grounds when his car, stuck in traffic, was rear-ended by an auto-rickshaw. While no injuries were reported, the collision sparked a tense argument between the former India coach and the auto driver.
In the 11-second clip, Dravid was engaged in a heated argument, with the driver gesturing animatedly. Witnesses claim the auto driver initially attempted to evade responsibility.
However, the former coach eventually collected the driver's contact details and the auto's registration number before leaving the scene. Police have not registered a formal complaint, as per local media.
Dravid's Storied Legacy
The incident offered a rare glimpse of the normally reserved Dravid in a fiery avatar. Fondly dubbed "The Wall" for his unflappable batting, Dravid amassed over 24,000 international runs before transitioning to coaching. His tenure as India's head coach ended on a high note in July 2024, with the team clinching the T20 World Cup.
Post-coaching, Dravid returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL), rejoining Rajasthan Royals as head coach. He recently made headlines at the IPL 2025 mega auction for signing 13-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest-ever player purchased in the league's history.
