India women secured a commanding 10-wicket victory over South Africa in the one-off Women's Test on Monday. Despite the overwhelming win by the Indian side, a touching gesture from Indian journalists towards the South African team captured widespread admiration.

A journalist shared a video of South African captain Laura Wolvaardt appreciatively smiling at a signed score sheet of their second innings, gifted by reporters from the Chennai Press Box.

The score sheet bore the message, "Love from Chennai press box," highlighting the respect and admiration for South Africa's determined effort.

The journalist reflected on the significance of this gesture, writing, “This South African defiance is going to stay with us for a long time. Also very special because, for the first time in a home Test, we had six women in the Press Box.”

The match itself was a showcase of remarkable performances. Shafali Verma’s explosive double-century, scoring 205 off just 197 balls, and Smriti Mandhana’s composed 149 helped India amass a formidable 603/6 declared.

Off-spinner Sneh Rana’s career-best figures of 8/77 dismantled the South African batting lineup, restricting them to 266 in their first innings.

Forced to follow on, South Africa displayed resilience through Wolvaardt’s 122 and former skipper Sune Luus’s 109, with Nadine de Klerk adding a crucial 61.

Despite their efforts, South Africa set a modest target of 37 runs, which Shubha Satheesh (13 not out) and Shafali Verma (24 not out) chased down comfortably in 9.2 overs.
