After incurring a heavy defeat in the second WTC final, India will start from scratch when they take on West Indies in the upcoming two-match Test series. The series holds significant importance for Rohit Sharma and co., as it will give them the opportunity to get an ideal start to the third World Test Championship cycle.
Meanwhile, ahead of the first Test in Dominica, promising batter Ishan Kishan was seen toiling hard in the net session.
In a video shared by a OneCricket correspondent, Kishan, after taking the aerial route against a spinner, struck a glorious back-foot punch off the throw-down specialist before perfectly defending a delivery from the Indian coach, Rahul Dravid.
Kishan's performance in the nets might play a pivotal role in shaping his Test career, which will likely begin on the Caribbean tour, with the first-choice keeper KS Bharat finding international cricket a tough nut to crack. Despite being a regular in Rishabh Pant's absence, Bharat has been nothing short of a disappointment with the bat, managing 129 runs in eight innings at a mediocre average of 18.43.
Considering his repeated failures, fans and experts have called for his exclusion multiple times, replacing him with Kishan, who has 2985 runs to his name in 48 First-Class appearances.
The first Test between India and West Indies begins in Dominica on July 12.
