Mumbai Indians newly minted captain, Hardik Pandya, has returned to MI gear after two years, and ahead of the IPL 2024 season, he kicked off the pre-season camp by leading a traditional and religious ritual.

Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to two successful IPL campaigns, will return to lead Mumbai Indians from the upcoming IPL season onwards. Notably, Hardik's career was launched at MI after he was picked up by the scouting team. They helped him transform into the beast he is today.

While Hardik Pandya's appointment to captaincy was not well received by Mumbai Indians fans, the unaffected all-rounder means business. With less than two weeks left for the season opener, Pandya kicked off the pre-season camp in Mumbai earlier today. 

To ensure a smooth start to the season, Hardik Pandya sought the blessing of the almighty god and performed a holy ritual for the same. He was accompanied by a couple of coaching staff personnel as all of them collectively prayed together for a greater beginning of a fresh start.

That being said, Hardik Pandya has a big task up his sleeves. He will be filling the gigantic shoes of Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles. Additionally, the all-rounder has to appease the outraged fanbase with his definitive results. 

On top of that, Pandya also has to work on his personal growth. He has been out of action due to an ankle injury he sustained during the ICC ODI World Cup held in 2023.

Thus, the pressure is unreal on Hardik Pandya to prove his worth not just as a prolific all-rounder but also as a competent leader capable of succeeding Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians will face Gujarat Titans for its IPL 2024 season opener on March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
