Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his return from injury in style as he was spotted hitting big in the nets ahead of the third ODI between India and Australia in Rajkot.

Maxwell, who missed the first two ODIs of the ongoing three match series against India, participated in the team's training session in preparation for the third ODI on Wednesday. The 34-year-old suffered an injury in his ankle and was not even part of the Australian squad touring to South Africa earlier this month.

However, the big show looks on the right track to fully recover and become match ready before the forthcoming showpiece event, considering his recent glimpses with the bat in the nets. Australia, who is currently in the middle of a five-match losing streak, will be taking a breath of relief to see Maxwell nearing his full fitness.

A player like Maxwell, who has such a big experience of playing in India, will be an important factor for Australia in the upcoming World Cup. Be it in the IPL for RCB or while playing for Australia, Maxwell has always been an impactful factor in these conditions with both bat and ball.

Meanwhile, another Australian star is nearing his full fitness and took part in Australia's training in Rajkot. Mitchell Starc, who suffered a shoulder injury during the Ashes which was followed by a groin injury, is all set to make his return to the field.

Speaking to press ahead of the third ODI in Rajkot, Starc shed light on Maxwell's return from injury.

"Maxwell is on track to regain his full fitness. I am not sure about his particular timeline but no doubt he will be looking to make an impact as soon as he gets his chance," Starc said.

The left-arm seamer further described how important the all-rounder is to the current Australian set-up leading up to the World Cup in India.

"He has got a lot of experience over here through the Indian Premier League, through multiple tours. He is certainly an x-factor no matter whichever team he plays for," Starc added.

Australia is currently 2-0 behind in the three-match series against India. Heading to the third and the final ODI, the five-times World Champions will be looking to turn things around and finish the series on a high.

They will have two more warm-up games to play against Pakistan and Netherlands before starting their World Cup campaign in Chennai against India on October 8th.
