An electric atmosphere was witnessed on the streets of Mumbai earlier today after fans gathered outside Wankhede Stadium screamed 'Rohit… Rohit chants as the MI team bus arrives at the venue for the upcoming MI-RR IPL 2024 clash.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are scheduled to play their first home game of the IPL 2024 season against Rajasthan Royals later today at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Today marks the first instance where MI will step out under the leadership of Hardik Pandya at their home in Wankhede.

However, despite the leadership transition, the love for Rohit Sharma amongst MI fans has not yet been lost.

MI fans rally up for Rohit Sharma

Ahead of the exciting clash, MI's team bus arrived at the venue, and before the squad's arrival, fans had already gathered across Marine Drive to welcome the team.

As the team bus entered the stadium, fans erupted in 'Rohit…. Rohit' chants to profess their love for ex-captain Rohit Sharma.

A sea of fans were only present to see a glimpse of their beloved Mumbaikar, who sadly couldn't greet them for security reasons.

That said, the rousing support for the ex-MI captain is only a trailer for the full movie that will screen inside the stadium during the MI-RR clash.

MI's newly minted captain, Hardik Pandya, is expected to receive a hostile reception. Fans haven't been able to come to terms with the captaincy transition yet.

While authorities are committed to ensuring the smooth conduct of the game, fans' behaviour will truly reflect MI's position in the fanbase.
