The stage is set for Test cricket at its best as South Africa host India for a marquee two-match series, starting with the Boxing Day Test in Centurion on December 26. The Proteas strive to withstand the spirited Rohit Sharma-led side, who have the weight of history staked heavily against them.

Never before in eight previous attempts has the Indian team won a Test series on Proteas shores with the Asian giants winning only four of their 23 Tests in the rainbow nation.

Rohit & company thus have an opportunity to rewrite the history books and give the nation a cause to celebrate amidst the brewing disappointment since losing the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 in November while also bagging critical World Test Championship (WTC) points.

Star Sports' Promo For SA-IND Test Series

Amidst a great sense of anticipation of a riveting battle, Indian broadcasters of the series Star Sports unveiled a special promo, which raised the excitement levels for the series, stating even though it will be a difficult challenge for Team India, "Mazaa Ayegaa (we'll have fun)".

The promo features glimpses of Indian players fighting hard for glory on South African shores on previous Test tours without truly tasting the success and achieving a series win in the country.

The rainbow nation remains India's final frontier as they have won a Test series in all the fellow Test-playing countries but not in South Africa. On four occasions, the tourists have come close to breaching the fortress but have had to eventually settle with scorelines of 1-2 in 2006-07, 1-1 in 2010-11, 1-2 in 2018 and 1-2 in 2021-22.

The drawn three-match Test series in 2010-11 against the strongest South African side ever fielded is still India's finest result in the format in the land of Proteas. Over the next two weeks, Rohit and his men have the chance to go one better and finally clinch a series win.
