Bangladesh had an awful day in the field on Day 1 of the second Test match on Sunday, 9 January against New Zealand. Playing the second and the final match in the series, Bangladesh erred in their lines throughout the day and conceded 349 runs at the end of play. All Kiwi batsmen took Bangladesh bowlers to the cleaners scoring at a healthy rate of 3.88 runs per over. Openers Tom Latham and Will Young put up an opening stand of 148 runs and then the scoring was taken over by Devon Conway who scored an excellent 99 off 148 balls. Tom Latham was the star of the show and scored 186 runs off 278 balls and was the prime reason behind Bangladesh’s miseries.
The visitors were not helped by their poor effort in the field and dropped catches in the field. Their day out was perfectly summed up by an Ebadot Hossain delivery where he saw a catch getting dropped in the slips. He further had to run back off his own bowling on a run out attempt by the keeper.
Bangladesh are leading the Test series 1-0 and are threatening to dethrone New Zealand from their undefeated streak at home.
