SL vs ZIM | 3rd ODI: Sri Lanka thump Zimbabwe to clinch series

Sri Lanka thumped Zimbabwe in the deciding third ODI of the series in Pallekele to clinch the series 2-1. Chasing 255, Zimbabwe were bundled out for 70 to suffer a defeat by 184 runs during the course. The visitors had a struggling start to the chase after they lost some early wickets and were left tottering at 41/6 to eventually get bowled out. Earlier, in the day, Sri Lanka were off to a steady start with an 80-run stand for the first wicket between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Nissanka eventually scored a fifty for his side. Sri Lanka lost a few wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs but Asalanka held the fort at one end and struck a half-century to help the side put 254/9 in 50 overs. Shanaka later lauded the side for playing some good cricket and also admitted that the toss played an important role. "We played really good cricket throughout. Toss played a crucial part in the series, played a huge role. It was more on the slower side, we spoke about 270 being ideal. We were 20 runs short by we knew our spinners will come to play. Vikram Solanki resigns as Surrey head coach to join Ahmedabad IPL franchise

Former England batter Vikram Solanki has resigned as Surrey's head coach with immediate effect. He is slated to join the new Ahemedabad franchise in the IPL as Director of Cricket. Solanki will be a part of the staff that comprises of Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten. The three former cricketers have worked together earlier with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2019. "Surrey has been an extremely valuable part of my life for the last nine years, both as a player and as a coach, making the decision to leave a difficult one," Solanki said. U19 World Cup 2022: Five Indian players including captain Yash Dhull ruled out of game against Uganda

The India U19 team suffered a major blow after five players were ruled out of the World Cup clash against Uganda scheduled to take place on Saturday (January 22, 2021). The five cricketers including captain Yash DHull have tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest RT-PCR test. "Out of the six players, who were isolated before the match against Ireland on Wednesday, only all-rounder Vasu Vats tested negative," an ICC source told PTI. Dhull, Aaradhya Yadav and Shaik Rasheed had earlier tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Test and have now returned positive in the RT-PCR test as well. Manav Parakh had tested negative in RAT but has now returned positive in RT-PCR while Sidharth Yadav had already tested positive in the RT-PCR before India's clash against Ireland. "One positive out of this unfortunate situation is that the 11 who played against Ireland have all tested negative," said the ICC source. The Indian team is already through to the quarterfinals after winning the first two games against South Africa and Ireland and will play Uganda now.
