Adam Zampa went wicketless against India on a turning Chennai surface as Australia slumped to a six-wicket defeat in their opening World Cup 2023 match on October 8. The spinner was flogged around by a marauding South African bunch in Lucknow in his side’s second successive defeat of the tournament.

Zampa, along with the rest of his Australian teammates, eventually scripted their dramatic comeback by handing comprehensive drubbings to Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

For starters, the 31-year-old snared four wickets at an expense of just 47 to reduce Sri Lanka from 125-0 to 209 all out. The New South Wales star subsequently extinguished Pakistan spirit in Bengaluru after their openers had formed a 134-run opening partnership in pursuit of a challenging 368-run task.

Australia, having elevated themselves from number 10 to number four on the World Cup 2023 points table in a space of just two games, will be aiming to sustain their newfound winning momentum when they take on Netherlands on October 25. The much-awaited contest is slated to be played out at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Australia will subsequently camp out at Dharamsala to face Antipodean rivals New Zealand.
