  • Wasim Jaffer Believes Bhuvneshwar Kumar Is An Absolute Certainty For The T20 World Cup

Wasim Jaffer believes Bhuvneshwar Kumar is an absolute certainty for the T20 World Cup.

Former Indian opener and cricket pundit Wasim Jaffer believes India's second-highest wicket-taker in T20I's is a sure bet for the upcoming World Cup.

After his excellent performance against England, Bhuvneshwar Kumar garnered a lot of praise from the cricketing fraternity. His ability to swing the ball both ways and by a considerable margin is a rare talent in modern cricket.

"In international cricket, a bowler who swings the ball will have most of the batters struggling, especially with the ball. You don't see many bowlers swinging it, but Bhuvi is a great exponent of it," Jaffer was quoted as saying by royalchallengers.com.

He conceded ten runs from his three overs and managed to send England captain Jos Buttler back to the pavilion with a superb incoming delivery.

On the back of his recent performances, the veteran swing bowler has cemented his position in the playing eleven. He also had a decent series against Ireland, where he took two wickets with an economy of 8.85. His ability to deliver during tough times is a valued trait the team will require during crucial stages.

"He's (Bhuvi) been getting it right since he has come back to the side and it was great to see him producing a good performance against a quality batting line-up. I don't see any doubt in my mind that he's going to be in the World Cup squad. He's an absolute certainty," added Jaffer.

Former England spinner Ashley Giles also shared a similar opinion regarding Bhuvneshwar.

"Will the ball swing as much in Australia? I don't know but if anybody swings, it will be Bhuvi. I think he has inked his name into that World Cup squad already," said Giles.

Learning from their mistakes in the previous World Cup, India will want to consider their best eleven for the tournament. If fit, India could line up with the pace bowling trio of Bhuvi, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

With Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant back into the squad for T20I's against England, Rohit Sharma will want to assemble a stable eleven before the World Cup commences.
