Renowned fast bowler Wasim Akram has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to apologize and remove its promotional video for the 2023 Asia Cup. The video, shared on Pakistan's Independence Day, showcased the country's cricket successes from 1947 onwards. It featured moments from numerous ICC tournaments and Asia Cups, but surprisingly omitted former captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan. Notably absent was any reference to the 1992 World Cup victory, which was achieved under Imran's leadership.

Wasim Akram expressed his disappointment over PCB's Asia Cup video and added that he was shocked to not see Imran Khan in it. He urged PCB to delete the video and apologise for the same.

Imran Khan, widely regarded as a cricketing legend, was ousted from his role as Prime Minister in April 2022 following a no-confidence vote in the parliament. Lately, Pakistani broadcasters have refrained from displaying Khan's visuals or even talking about him.

Khan made his international cricket debut for Pakistan in 1971 against England. He quickly established himself as a talented fast bowler. He became a key player in Pakistan's bowling attack during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1982, he was appointed as the captain of the national team and in 1992, he led Pakistan to the World Cup trophy.

Khan retired from international cricket after the 1992 World Cup, marking the end of a remarkable cricketing journey. He finished his career with over 3,800 runs and more than 370 wickets in Test matches, along with over 3,700 runs and around 180 wickets in ODIs.
