Amid the major reforms within the Indian cricket team, there are reports that former India batting coach Vikram Rathour has been approached for the new head of the NCA.

Currently, VVS Laxman is the head of the NCA in Bengaluru and his tenure is coming to an end. The reports suggest that the former India batter is unlikely to extend his contract.

Meanwhile, Rathour, who was Men in Blue's head coach during Rahul Dravid's tenure, stepped down from his role after the T20 World Cup triumph and is now the frontrunner to head NCA after Laxman.

“It is very likely that you may see Rathour heading NCA. For now, a call on VVS Laxman’s contract renewal is pending, but the conversation from his side is not positive,” the source was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.

Currently, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah is in Sri Lanka for the ICC meeting and a call on the NCA situation will take place once he returns from the Island Nation.

“Rathour might be asked to take charge at NCA. The BCCI secretary (Jay Shah) after the ICC meeting is likely to have a word with VVS to understand his side,” the source added.

Talking about Laxman, he has filled in Dravid's shoes in several series and served as India's interim head coach. His current tour was recently against Zimbabwe, where the Men in Blue won the five-match T20I series 4-1.
