Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Sunday, April 13.

Salt, Kohli Lead RCB Win Over Jaiswal-Starrer Royals

RCB cruised to an emphatic nine-wicket win with 15 balls to spare over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur in match 28 of the IPL 2025 season. The Royals batted first and amassed 173-4 from 20 overs courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s dazzling 47-ball 75. Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel also clubbed swift 30s each in the innings.

In response, RCB openers Phil Salt (65 off 33) and Virat Kohli (62* off 45) belted match-winning fifties and shared 92 runs for the opening wicket from just 8.4 overs. Devdutt Padikkal at number three also chipped in with an unbeaten 28-ball 40 as RCB regained winning momentum in the competition.

Virat Kohli Completes 100 T20 Fifties

Virat Kohli became the first Indian cricketer in history, and second overall behind David Warner, to complete 100 T20 half-centuries. The legendary Indian batter scaled the landmark figure through his match-winning knock against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.

Apart from recording 100 T20 fifties, Kohli has also charted nine tons in the format throughout his career. Notably, the cricketer racked up 38 of those half-centuries in T20Is for Team India, and 60 in IPL and Champions League T20, all for the RCB franchise.

Mumbai Indians Halt Capitals Despite Nair’s 40-Ball 89

Mumbai Indians secured a thrilling 12-run win over Delhi Capitals in Delhi in match 29 of the IPL 2025 season. Batting first, the Mumbai Indians accrued 205-5 off 20 overs, with Tilak Varma’s 33-ball 59 turning out to be the biggest benefactor of the innings. Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav belted quick 40s in the middle overs, while Naman Dhir’s 17-ball 38* turbo-charged Mumbai Indians at the death. For the Capitals, Kuldeep Yadav picked up two key wickets at an expense of just 23 runs in his spell.

Chasing 206, Delhi Capitals folded up for 193 in 19 overs, despite Karun Nair’s explosive 40-ball 89. Karn Sharma delivered a match-winning spell of 3-36 for Mumbai Indians, and he received much assistance from Mitchell Santner and Deepak Chahar.

Scotland Women Wallop Thailand In Low-Scoring One-Sider

Scotland Women overcame their Thailand counterparts by 58 runs in the sixth match of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers in Lahore. Captain Kathryn Bryce led Scotland from the front by punching out 60 in her team’s disappointing 206-run total from 41 overs. Megan McColl also belted 57 runs in the middle overs to counter three-wicket hauls from Thipatcha Putthawong and Onnicha Kamchomphu.

In response, three wickets each from Rachel Slater, Katherine Fraser and Abtaha Maqsood helped Scotland envelop Thailand for just 158 despite Natthakan Chantham’s fighting 63.

Bangladesh survived Irish scare, registered a thrilling two-wicket win in a dramatic run-chase in Lahore in match seven of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers. Ireland Women batted first and made 235-8 from 50 overs, with Laura Delany top-scoring with 63. Rabeya Khan picked up three wickets for just 39 runs for Bangladesh in the innings.

Chasing 236, Bangladesh slipped to 186-8 to still find itself 50 away from a win. However, captain Nigar Sultana’s 51 earlier in the innings paved way for Ritu Moni to bat with the tail and take Bangladesh home in the penultimate over.
