Virat Kohli is obsessive, wants to be the best: David Wiese

India skipper Virat Kohli’s century drought isn’t coming to an end. Though the right-handed batsman has been among runs but the fans are still waiting for his 71st international ton. 

Former South Africa player David Wiese who has shared the dressing room with Kohli during his time with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League has put his weight behind the batsman and said that Virat is someone who strives to be the best and that is the best quality that a sportsperson can have. 

"Virat is just obsessive, he wants to be the best and he would not stop until he is the best and that for me, is his biggest quality. He is probably one of the best in the world but he still wants to improve. He is already a legend of the game but that is not good enough for him. He wants to become better, he has got a passion for the game. In training, he would spend hours and hours, working on different things. He has never been content, he is always looking to improve,” Wiese told ANI in an interaction organised by the International Cricket Council.

Kohli is presently leading the RCB in the ongoing IPL and has been in decent touch in the UAE leg so far. In the five matches that he has played, the RCB skipper has notched up a couple of fifties in the second phase of the competition. 

Virat is one of the most successful batsmen in the world and holds numerous records to his name. Kohli is the first Indian batsman to score seven double tons in Test cricket. Apart from this, he also holds the record for scoring the fastest ODI century by an Indian batsman. 

He will now lead the Indian team in the forthcoming World T20 in UAE and Oman which will be his last assignment as a skipper in the T20Is as he would be stepping down from the post after the conclusion of the tournament.
