India is going through an extremely tough time, trying to come to terms with the second wave of COVID-19 which has put the medical infrastructure under immense pressure. With more than four lakh cases reported each day across the country and with thousands of people dying each day, people from all walks of life have come forward to help India in these tough times.
The recent entry into the list is none other than Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma. Both have started a campaign to raise funds for the same.
Taking to their Instagram handle, the duo shared a video where they made the revelation of their new campaign. They aim to raise at least Rs 7 crore besides donating Rs 2 crore personally.
Sharing the clip on Instagram, Anushka wrote, "As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief."
"We shall all overcome this crisis together. Please step forward to support India and Indians. Your contribution will help in saving lives during this critical time," she further added.
The campaign will run for one week on Ketto and the proceeds from there will be raised directly to ACT Grants which is the implementation partner for this campaign. Speaking about the same, Anushka said that it’s high time everyone joins hands and come together to help India as they fight the deadly pandemic.
"India is going through an extremely difficult time and the second wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic has pushed our country to a state of crisis. It is time for all of us to come together and do our bit for our fellow countrymen who are in serious need for support,” Anushka said.
"Virat and I have been hugely pained looking at the inexplicable suffering that people are going through and we hope that this fund will aid in our fight against the virus that we are all helplessly witnessing. We are praying for everyone’s safety. We hope that you join us in our prayers to save as many lives as possible because we are all in this together,” she further added.
Meanwhile, the Indian skipper is confident of the fact that the country will fight the pandemic together and will come forward in support of their fellow countrymen. On the work front, Virat Kohli returned home a couple of days ago after the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended indefinitely after several cases were reported in different team bio-bubbles.
