Virat Kohli achieves a mini milestone against James Anderson

Irrespective of how the ongoing Test Match between India & England is turning out, Virat Kohli might have a reason to celebrate. After all, Kohli now holds the record of scoring the most runs against England great Jimmy Anderson in Tests amongst Indian Batters.

On Day 3 of the Test Match, Virat Kohli came into bat after Hanuma Vihari got out. The former skipper looked determined to put up a good score on the board and looked well on his course. Kohli played a few exquisite strokes and collected 20 runs off 40 balls before falling to Ben Stokes.

But during his short innings, Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni to become the highest-scoring Indian batter against James Anderson. Although, the match-up between him and Jimmy Anderson is quite balanced. Kohli has scored 305 runs off 710 balls so far in Tests.

Kohli holds a staggering average of 43.57 per Test Match (2 Batting Innings), hitting him for 39 boundaries. For the Math & Stat enthusiasts, more than 50% of Kohli's runs against Jimmy Anderson have come off boundaries.

Anderson can be proud of himself. He has dismissed Kohli seven times in Tests. Over the last four years, Kohli and Anderson have gone up against each other in 14 Tests.

Not everything has worked for Kohli in this Test. He looked settled in both the innings but failed to convert his starts. On the other hand, Jimmy Anderson ended his bowling spell in the first innings with a fifer to his name. Kohli and Bairstow were also involved in a war of words on Day 3, resulting in a not-so-favourable situation for Team India. Bairstow - in the form of his life, scored a robust century.

That said, Kohli has a couple of reasons to be happy about in a bittersweet series so far. One would be his mini-milestone, and more importantly, the other is Team India's dominance thanks to Pant's aggression.
