Two Bangladesh Women’s cricket team members who were part of the team that participated in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup Qualifiers 2022 held in Zimbabwe in November 2021, have tested positive for Omicron, the latest variant of covid-19.
These two women had previously reported having been tested positive for Covid-19 and the whole team’s isolation period was extended thereafter. That decision was taken on December 06.
Zahid Maleque, Bangladesh health and family welfare minister announced the development on Saturday, December 11.
''It will take time to recover and according to the protocol we will keep them under watch for two weeks and they will be released after recovering fully,'' Maleque was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. ''We are doing contact tracing and testing everyone who had come close to them,'' he added.
Now, the isolation of the women’s team has been extended to 14 days and they would be staying at the hotel they first occupied on their return from Zimbabwe.
