Tri-series in New Zealand will help us finetune our world cup preparations: Babar Azam

Pakistan is scheduled to feature in a T20I tri-series, which will involve New Zealand and Bangladesh as the other two teams.

The series, which New Zealand will host, is set to take place just before the T20 world cup in Australia. Therefore, the Pakistani captain Babar Azam believes this tri-series will immensely help the men in green to give a final touch to their preparations for the mega-event.

Speaking to the media, Babar expressed his happiness at Pakistan taking part in the tri-series mentioned above. Babar considered this series a crucial one for his side as it would enable the Pakistani players to arrive early in the Australian continent, allowing them to adapt to the alien conditions much before the world cup. Further, the stylish Lahore-born batter expected this series to help Pakistan finetune their preparations for the world cup by letting them work on the grey areas of their game and find their best possible combination.

“I am pleased that we will be featuring in the tri-series in New Zealand as it will help us to arrive early and not only acclimatise for the T20 World Cup in Australia but also give final touches to our preparations", Babar said.

Continuing, Babar revealed to be disappointed in missing the last series in New Zealand owing to a thumb injury. The Pakistani captain also sounded ecstatic about playing against two quality opponents in Christchurch this time.

“I missed the last series in New Zealand due to a thumb injury and look forward to playing cricket in Christchurch against two good oppositions." the 27-year-old concluded.
