Riding on the openers’ useful knocks and Sonu Yadav’s excellent 26-run cameo, the defending champions Chepauk Super Gillies pipped Dindigul Dragons by five wickets in the 21st match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2022 on Saturday, July 16.
Kaushik Gandhi & N Jagadeesan Help CSG Ace The Run Chase
Considering CSG's red hot form in the tournament, 139 should have been a comfortable chase for them, but that wasn't the case when Kaushik Gandhi's troops came out to hunt down the target.
Chasing 139, the Super Gillies suffered a few hiccups after a flying start provided by Kaushik Gandhi (38-ball 44) and N Jagadeesan (30-ball 31) at the top of the order. The duo forged a 64-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Although Dindigul Dragons struck twice in successive overs to make a quick comeback, it was too late for them as the top order of Super Gillies had already done the damage.
The bits and pieces contribution from the lower order eventually helped CSG go past the finish line in 19.2 overs with five wickets in hand.

On being sent to bat first, the Dragons got off to a disastrous start, losing both their openers – Vishal Vaidhya and Hari Nishaanth, cheaply inside two overs.
Vivek remained unbeaten on 61 off 38 balls as Dindigul posted 138 for five wickets in 20 overs.
