Some big Australian and England players were in a spot of bother but off the field. According to a report in The Sunday Morning Herald and a viral video on social media, the players including Nathan Lyon, Travis Head and Alex Carey, Joe Root and James Anderson were asked by the police to stop the party and “go to bed”.
“Too loud,” a female officer was heard saying. “You have obviously been asked to pack up, so we’ve been asked to come. Time for bed. Thank you. They just want to pack up.”
The cricketers didn’t really create a fuss and left straight away. “No worries,” says Lyon in the video.
According to a statement received by Herald and The Age, the Tasmania police revealed that the officers were called after reports were made of intoxicated people in a function area.
“Tasmania Police attended the Crowne Plaza Hobart on Monday morning after reports were made of intoxicated people in a function area,” the statement read. “The guests were spoken to by police, just after 6:00am, and left the area when asked.”
“No further action will be taken by police.”
Talking about the series, Australia thumped England 4-0 in the five-match fixtures.
