Team India maintained their perfect record against Pakistan in ODI World Cups by securing their 8th consecutive victory in the 2023 edition at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. India's comprehensive performance saw them chase down a target of 192 with ease after a stellar bowling display.

Batting first, Pakistan, who looked to recover after early dismissals, saw their hopes dashed with a dramatic collapse. Babar Azam managed to score his first half-century in ODIs against India but fell shortly afterward to Mohammed Siraj. Jasprit Bumrah's lethal pace and variations kept Pakistan's batters in check, as he took 2/19 in his seven overs.

Kuldeep Yadav's double strikes in the 33rd over dismantled Pakistan's middle order, and Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja wrapped up the innings, bowling the visitors out for 191.

Rohit Sharma masterclass overpowered dispirited Pakistan

India's chase was a formality after captain Rohit Sharma's blistering start, and even though Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were dismissed cheaply, the Indian captain's commanding innings ensured there was no real threat. He scored a brilliant 86 off just 63 balls, maintaining an aggressive approach throughout the inning.

By the time Rohit fell to a slower ball from Shaheen Afridi, India were already on the brink of victory. Rohit broke Virat Kohli's record for the highest score by an Indian captain against Pakistan in World Cups, previously set at 77 in 2019.

Eventually, India successfully wrapped up the 192-run chase in 30.3 overs to hand Pakistan yet another embarrassment in an ICC event.

Overall, despite the high anticipation and pressure of rivalry, the India-Pakistan 2023 ODI World Cup game turned out to be a one-sided affair, with Pakistan unable to match India's firepower. This victory further cemented India's supremacy over Pakistan in World Cups, both in the skill and temperament department.

While India went on to play the finals from that stage, Pakistan succumbed to expectations and were knocked out from the group stage, further reflecting the quality difference between the two Asian teams.
