There must have been a fall out between Warner & team management: Simon Doull

Sunrisers Hyderabad handed over the captaincy to Kane Williamson replacing David Warner after they have had a disappointing run so far in the IPL 2021. SRH have lost five matches out of the six that they have played.

But former New Zealand player Simon Doull is of a different opinion about the change in captaincy and has suggested that 'there must have been a falling out' between Warner and the team management for the playing XI and especially on Manish Pandey’s place.

Warner had earlier said that dropping Pandey in one of the games was a ‘harsh call’.

"I think there must have been a falling out somewhere along the lines and not with the team, there has to be a falling out with the coaching structure. After what he said in that game about leaving Manish Pandey out, it was not his decision at all, he didn't want to do it clearly. And basically, you passed the buck, you blamed it on someone else and I think he has paid the price for that," said Doull while speaking to Cricbuzz.

Doull also talked about the sacking of Tom Moody and then getting him back in the side.

"That dynamic... you sack a coach, Tom Moody, you employ Trevor Bayliss and then you bring Tom Moody back to oversee your cricket. I don't know how that relationship can possibly work. And I wonder whether one [win] in 5 (6) is the direct result of that relationship not working... And the press release suggests that he [David Warner] won't even play now that's even more strange," Doull added.

The Hyderabad-based franchise will now face RR on Sunday in Delhi.

It's been a frustrating start to the season for us: Jos Buttler

Rajasthan Royals have had a dismal run in the IPL 2021 so far having won just two matches out of the six games that they have played. Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler has said that the team has been performing in phases but haven’t been able to win the matches. “It's been a frustrating start to the season for us. We haven't had the results we would have liked. I think we've played well in phases but haven't been able to put games to bed with bat, ball or in the field," Buttler said. Talking about the points table, the wicket-keeper batsman admitted that they need to get back to the winning ways as early as possible. RR are presently sitting at the seventh spot with just four points under their belt. “We've let ourselves down in certain situations and given the points table we need to get it right as soon as possible to make sure that we're still challenging to make the playoffs." RR handed over the captaincy to Sanju Samson ahead of the starting of the IPL 2021. Mentioning about Samson’s captaincy, the England cricketer said that he is very clear about what he wants from the team. "Sanju's (Samson) been very consistent in his messaging and how he wants us to play, express ourselves and make sure we enjoy the tournament," said Buttler. The Royals take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday in Delhi.

BCB to distribute 2 Cr. Taka to help domestic cricketers in pandemic

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has decided to financially help the domestic non contracted men and women’s cricketers in the Covid-19 pandemic by distributing two crores Bangladeshi Taka, around 1.74 crore Indian rupees among them. The decision is likely to benefit 1700 men and women cricketers in India’s neighbouring country. ''The Board's initiative, covering 1432 men and 288 women players, was taken at the advice of BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP as a token of support to cricketers affected by the disruption to domestic competitions due to the Covid-19 pandemic,'' a statement released by BCB was quoted by Cricbuzz. All these cricketers are non contracted and part of the Dhaka Premier League, Dhaka First, Second and Third Division leagues, Women's National, Emerging and Under-19 teams, Women's National Cricket League, Premier Division and First Division leagues. Bangladesh haven’t had a proper domestic season ever since the pandemic kicked in 2020. Only two complete tournaments including the Bangabandhu T20 cup has been organised completely. The Dhaka Premier League, scheduled to start from May 6 looks under threat as well.

Pandya brothers donate 200 oxygen concentrators to help rural India fight Covid-19

Mumbai Indians’ start all-rounder brother duo of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya have decided to donate 200 oxygen concentrators in rural India to help in the country’s fight Coronavirus. "Gratitude to all the medical staff, frontline workers and all the individuals who have come out and held their hands at such times to fight out the battle," Pandya told Star Sports ahead of the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings clash on May 2. "Krunal, myself and my mother - basically our entire family - we were finding ways at trying to help out. We decided to donate 200 oxygen concentrators to the rural parts of India where I feel the medical infrastructure needs more support," he added. India is going through its worst-ever health crisis with around 1 lakh positive cases being reported every day and more than 3000 people dying due to Covid-19. In such a situation, foreign cricketers like Pat Cummins, Brett Lee and Indian cricketers and IPL sides have come forward to help the citizens as much as they could. So far, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore have donated money and oxygen concentrators to help in the nation’s fight. "We all understand it's difficult, we want to show our gratitude, support and just want to tell everyone that they're always there in our prayers," Hardik said.

RCB to support frontline workers in blue jersey; donate 100 units of oxygen concentrators

The Royal Challengers Bangalore announced that they would sport a blue jersey in one of their matches instead of the usual green one to show support to the frontline workers fighting Covid-19’s second wave in India. This decision was followed by the franchise’s association with ‘Give India Foundation’ to provide around 100 units of oxygen concentrators to extend support in Bangalore and other cities. The Jersy which will carry key messages for fans and the Covid-19 warriors dealing with probably the worst emergency in the country’s history will be signed by all the RCB players later. The signed Blue Jerseys will be auctioned and the proceeds will again be used to help the fight against Coronavirus. Anand Kripalu, Chairman, Royal Challengers Bangalore, said, “Royal Challengers Bangalore stands united with our nation in this unprecedented crisis. The task is clearly enormous, and we wanted to help in whatever little way possible. We can and will win this battle together.” With over 300,000 people testing positive every day and thousands of death due to the Covid-19, RCB skipper Virat Kohli also emphasised the importance of the fight against the deadly virus and lauded the team’s initiative. “This is a tough time for our country, what’s happening with the spread of the Covid virus is deeply concerning,” he said. “It is only because of the frontline heroes that we hope to save humanity. We salute them and would like to take the opportunity to spread as much awareness for people to follow all the safety protocols,” the 32-year-old added.
