Oval Invincibles (OI) wrapped up the chase in quick time and won by nine wickets against London Spirit (LS) in Match 19 of the Women's Hundred Competition on Saturday (27 August).

Mady Villiers restricts Spirit to a below-par total

Batting first, Spirit were rocked by a double blow by Mady Villiers, who took out the in-form batters Danielle Gibson and Beth Mooney in her first spell.

However, the sensible knock from Amelia Kerr (31) and Charlotte Dean (18) was good support in stabilising the team's innings. After the dismissals of both the batters, the rest of the line-up fell like a pack of cards resulting in the team getting dismissed for a total of 80 runs.

Villiers finished with top-class figures of 4/12 in her designated quota of 20 balls.

Openers seal the chase for Invincibles

In response, openers Lauren Winfield-Hill and Suzie Bates were impressive to provide a flourish for the team in the initial overs.

The duo added 55 runs for the first wicket, before Bates was dismissed on 31 off 20 by Grace Scrivens. Nevertheless, Lauren continued her merry way to steer the team at a brisk rate to remain unbeaten on 44 off 28, and finish off the chase in 58 balls.

This victory helped Invincibles to cement their place in the second position, and get one step closer to finalising their playoff spot.
