Team India might be allowed to start practice sessions in the UK after undergoing only three days of hard quarantine for their three-month-long tour of England.
Just like the Kiwis who are already in England preparing for the two-match Test series against the hosts and the final of the ICC World Test Championship, India might follow a similar roadmap and undergo just three days of isolation before beginning practice in a bio-secure environment.
The Indian contingent is slated to leave for the UK on 2nd June and is expected to be under isolation period for 10 days. However, they might start practice after only three days of hard quarantine. The details are not yet disclosed as there has been no clear confirmation by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Reports have emerged that there have been discussions between the BCCI and the England and the Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the relaxation of the quarantine rules.
Since most of the Indian players are already in quarantine in Mumbai with the rest slated to join latest by 24th May, the quarantine process might be a bit relaxed and shouldn’t be a hard one for all ten days.
It must be noted that India is on the red list of the UK government due to a huge rise of COVID-19 cases across the country. Meanwhile, the New Zealand players were asked to undergo a three-day hard quarantine and were then allowed to practice in groups of six. The whole squad had arrived in England on Monday and Tuesday in different batches.
“The first three days will be spent in hotel room isolation, before mini-training groups of six can be established from days 4-6, pending negative covid results,” New Zealand Cricket stated on their arrival.
