T20 Blast 2022 | Teams register emphatic wins over their opponents as openers steal the night

Worcestershire vs Derbyshire

Worcestershire Rapids' woeful run continued as they slumped to their seventh defeat out of the eight matches. However, on this occasion, Shan Masood's Derbyshire Falcons stood in their way, with the captain scoring a second half-century on the trot. His 65 off 47 balls allowed the Falcons to post a respectable 168/7 on board. Moeen Ali and Dwayne Bravo picked two wickets for the Rapids.

Worcestershire's chase went nowhere as only opener Brett D'Oliveira (55) and Jack Haynes (35) reached double-digit scores. The trio of Mattie Mckiernan, Hayden Kerr and Mark Watt shared seven wickets among themselves to lead the Falcons to a clinical victory.

Dominic Drakes, Matthew Revis and Adil Rashid chipped in with two wickets each.

Set a modest target of 102, Yorkshire had no trouble chasing. Adam Lyth (58*) and Dawid Malan (38*) saw them home without hiccups.

Durham vs Lancashire

Lancashire Lightning's fight back went in vain as Durham held their nerves to win by two wickets and three balls to spare. Opting to bat first, Lancashire produced a dismal performance. However, Steven Croft's 55 saved them the blushes and helped them set a target of 131. Nathan Sowter and Andrew Tye were the star performers with the ball for Durham, snaring three wickets each.

Durham stuttered in their chase as Richard Gleeson bowled his heart out to pick up a four-for. Then, however, they emerged victorious as Liam Trevaskis saw them with a 7-ball 16*over the line. Ned Eckersley (46) and Michael Alexander Jones (36) were the chief contributors with the bat for Durham.
