Head coach Ottis Gibson told his players to be brave and play fearlessly, ahead of the Semi Final clash against Lancashire on the Finals Day of T20 Blast 2022.
What transpired in the quarters??
The White Roses won an absolute thriller of a quarter-final, against a strong Surrey side, with the heroics of Jordan Thompson who defended 5 runs in the last over and took Yorkshire to the Finals day.
This will be the third game between these two heavyweights this season, with the first match being tied in Manchester and Lancashire winning a thriller in Headingley by just 4 runs.
Ahead of the Lancashire clash, Yorkshire’s head coach Gibson's only message to his players was to continue the way they have been playing in this tournament so far.
“My message to them will be ‘just go and play, be brave’,” said Gibson.
Gibson wants his players to be the one to throw the first punch in this game
“We can’t stand off. We’ve got to be prepared to throw the first punch.
No fear, just go and attack the game. Be skilful and be confident. Finals Day is not a place to be timid. You’ve got to go out there and you’ve got to be strong,” he said.
“We’re playing a very good team in Lancashire, so we can’t take five/six/seven overs to get going. We’ve got to be ready to go from the very first over, the very first ball,” he added.
